The project originates from research into the chromatic possibilities of the polymers used in shopping systems, with the aim of transforming carts and baskets from purely functional objects into communication elements within the retail environment.
The analysis linked colour performance with mechanical performance: some materials allow transparent and luminous effects, while others require more compact tones to ensure strength and durability. Colour therefore becomes an integral part of the industrial design, not a simple finishing.
This leads to a visual grammar composed of opaque, translucent and semi-transparent parts that improves recognisability and enables customisation for brands and stores.
As summarised in the concept “We coloured the system”, the project concerns not only the product but the experience: through colour, the cart shifts from technical equipment to a graphic sign within the commercial space.
The result is a more contemporary and distinctive presence in the retail world, where function and communication coincide and can speak a common, distinctive language.
